Loves to Read

I've  decided for 2012 I'm going to make this blog more personal.  I seem to be posting so many photos on my Photo by Jamie Facebook page now a days that it feels like a perfect outlet for my more personal work.  Since my daughter fills up such a huge part of life, I couldnt' think of a better subject to begin with.  Adeline just turned 18 months and she's absolutely obsessed with reading.  Not that she can actually "read"  books, but after I read them to her, she seems to memorize them and then read them over and over again to herself.  We just celebrated Christmas and she received a gorgeous kitchen set and of course there's the doll house that held her interest for a while, but ultimately she spends the majority of her days with her face in a book.  Since Adeline was first born my husband, Scott and I have made reading to her a huge priority and it seems to have paid off.  There are a few books in particular that have stood the test of time, ones that I never get tired of reading and the Adeline never gets tired of having read to her, they are:

Goodnight Moon, The Moon Shines Down and Little Fur Family all by Margaret Wise Brown an absolutely brilliant author!

Hug Time by Patrick Mcdonnell

The Midnight Farm by Susan Jeffers

Annie and the Animals by Jan Brett, another favorite author, the illustrations are gorgeous and timeless!

Here are some of my favorite shots of Adeline with her beloved books, her latest favorites are a collections of Sesame Street books covering subjects like shapes, colors, numbers, etc.  Kids are just crazy for Elmo, I don't understand it!

Notice the bruise on the left cheek:(  poor baby slipped and fell on the spine of one of her books!

I love how Adeline has managed to read her book in every position imaginable, that's my girl!

Here's an exerpt from Hug Time, a book that I must have read about 200 times by now, but that never gets old!

"There once was a kitten so filled with love, he wanted to give the whole world a hug.

"Hug the world, will that make it better?"

As Jules nodded yes, Doozy helped with his sweater.

There was no one this kitten wanted to miss, so he made (and checked twice) a Hug-To-Do List.
He hugged his best friends, Mooch, Noodles, and Earl, A butterfly, buttercups, a little grey squirrel.

He hugged all the birds he could find in the park.  So many to hug before it got dark!

Jules jumped on a boat and set out to sail and soon he spotted a big blue tail...attached to a huggable BIG blue whale.  The boat docked in Africa and Jules kissed the ground-The earth so precious, so fragile, so round. "
